The Voice and Vision of PAT Testing Wales

Neil Challenger

Business Director

Neil is the voice of PAT Testing Wales – quite literally! If you’ve ever called our contact number, there’s a good chance you’ve been greeted by his warm, professional tone and signature charm. As the company’s logistics mastermind, Neil ensures that bookings run smoothly, clients are happy, and every day starts with a clear plan. His excellent customer service skills and knack for organization make him an essential part of the team, and he’s always ready with a joke or a kind word to brighten your day.

Neil’s diverse career journey has equipped him with a skill set as unique as his personality. He’s done everything from teaching sports at a popular holiday resort to managing pubs, tackling factory work, running an advertising and design business, and now, shining as an integral part of PAT Testing Wales. Each role brought valuable lessons in communication, management, and creativity – all of which he applies effortlessly in his current role. And if that wasn’t impressive enough, Neil is also a qualified electrician, bringing hands-on technical expertise to the team and ensuring he’s never far from the action.

When he’s not managing the logistics of PAT Testing Wales, Neil is a devoted family man who loves spending time with his partner Ellie and their two children, Flynn and Ophelia. His three-year-old son Flynn is already showing signs of following in his dad’s footsteps – Neil loves teaching him the basics of electrical circuits in their shed. Whether it’s building mini masterpieces together or just sparking Flynn’s curiosity, Neil is as passionate about being a dad as he is about his work.

Neil’s role goes far beyond customer service and scheduling. He’s the one who keeps the wheels turning, the team motivated, and the clients informed. And let’s not forget his sense of humour – whether he’s on the phone or working with the team, he’s guaranteed to bring a smile to everyone’s face.

With Neil, you’re not just getting a point of contact; you’re getting someone who truly cares about every detail, from the initial phone call to the completion of the job. His unique blend of expertise, personality, and dedication makes him an invaluable member of the PAT Testing Wales family.

Get to know Neil

    • What’s your favorite part of your job?
Definitely talking to clients. I’m like the company’s in-house chatterbox – give me a phone, and I’ll have a great conversation about everything from appliance safety to the weather. It’s not just work; it’s a daily dose of human connection (and sometimes a bit of comedy).

    • What’s the most unusual item you’ve ever PAT tested?
A singing fish plaque. It wasn’t plugged in, but I thought it deserved the chance to belt out one last tune.

    • If you weren’t working in PAT testing, what would your dream job be?
I’d probably run a quirky coffee shop where the mugs are mismatched, and every customer leaves feeling like they’ve just had a chat with their best mate. Failing that, I’d be a professional jigsaw puzzle tester – patience is my superpower.

    • What’s one thing you think every client should know about PAT testing?
It’s not just about ticking boxes – it’s about ensuring safety and peace of mind. We don’t just test appliances; we make workplaces safer, one plug at a time. Also, yes, we’ll make sure your kettle’s still good for your tea breaks. Priorities, right?

    • What do you usually do during your downtime on site?
Downtime? What’s that? If I’m not organizing the next job, I’m probably double-checking the van or cracking jokes with the team. I like to think I keep spirits high, even if my jokes don’t always land.

    • If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
The ability to fix any appliance just by looking at it. Imagine the time I’d save – plus, I’d finally win an argument with my toaster.

    • What’s the funniest thing that’s ever happened while you were working?
I once answered the phone thinking it was a client and gave a full introduction, only to realize it was my partner calling to remind me to pick up milk. At least she knows I take calls seriously!

    • What’s your go-to snack when you’re on the road?
Coffee and biscuits. Simple, effective, and guaranteed to fuel me through a day of saving appliances. Bonus points if the biscuits are chocolate.

    • How do you prepare for a long day of PAT testing?
Coffee first, coffee second, and a bit of mental prep where I remind myself that no appliance is too tricky. It’s all about being ready for anything – even that ancient kettle lurking in the staff room.

    • What’s your hidden talent that not many people know about?
I can identify the make and model of a kettle just by hearing it boil. It’s not a super useful talent, but it’s one I’m oddly proud of.

    • If you could swap jobs with one of your colleagues for a day, who would it be and why?
Probably Jordan, just to see how he manages to stay so calm and collected while being the face of the company. Plus, I’d love to see if I could pull off his tall, confident vibe.

    • What’s your favorite thing to do after a long day at work?
Spending time with my kids. Flynn and I love building circuits in the shed – he’s already my little apprentice. Ophelia mostly supervises, but she’s the boss of the operation, no doubt about it.

    • If you could give one piece of advice to a new employee at PAT Testing Wales, what would it be?
Don’t rush. Take your time, ask questions, and don’t be afraid to have a laugh along the way. Oh, and always double-check where you’ve left the coffee mug – losing that can ruin your day.

    • What’s your favorite TV show or movie to binge-watch?
The Office. I think I relate to the chaos a little too much, but it’s nice to know even fictional workplaces have their moments.

    • If you had to describe yourself using only three words, what would they be?
      Chatty, resourceful, and caffeine-fueled.
